Privacy policy

This policy applies to the independent geography-learning site Geo Lesson at https://geo-lesson.com/. The site is not affiliated with GeoGuessr.

Information kept in your browser

On the Japanese practice site, answer history, observation notes, saved weak questions, local lesson edits and the home-screen installation prompt state are stored in your browser. A tab-lifetime state prevents repeated learning-flow event sends. These records do not automatically sync between devices and may be lost when you clear browser data. Exporting a lesson pack does not include answer history or observation notes.

The small English practice page currently keeps your selected answer only while that page is open. It does not save the answer to browser storage or send it as a learning-flow event.

Limited learning-flow events

The Japanese practice app may send six types of events to a Cloudflare Pages Function to improve the learning flow: trial started, trial opened from a specific lesson link, trial answered, review opened, another trial started, and regular practice started. Each type is sent at most once per tab session. The event payload contains only the event type, not a lesson ID, selected country, correctness, observation notes, user ID or cookie. Cloudflare Analytics Engine aggregates the event type and date. The site code does not send these events when your browser has Do Not Track enabled.

A link to a particular lesson includes its ID in the URL. The hosting platform may process that URL during an ordinary page request, but the ID is not included in the learning-flow event payload. This site sets an origin-only referrer policy so a full lesson URL is not sent as the referrer when you open an external source.

The description above concerns the site's own event payload. Normal requests for pages, photos and API endpoints may involve information such as an IP address being processed by the hosting platform or network providers. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for Cloudflare's handling of data.

Photos and external links

Bundled lesson photos are served from this site after their source and permitted use have been checked. Each lesson identifies its photographer or provider, licence and original source. If you open a source or licence link, the destination site's policy applies. If you use the local lesson editor to enter an external image URL, viewing that image contacts the specified external server.

Advertising

The site does not currently load AdSense ad-serving code or display ads. Before ads are introduced, this policy will be updated to describe the provider, any cookies or similar technologies, how users can change their choices, and any required consent process.

For questions, lesson corrections or image-rights concerns, email the public contact address. Sending an email discloses your sender address and message to the site operator and email delivery providers. Please do not include unnecessary personal information.
